After school

Thursday.
Several weeks ago, not long after school started, Eowyn was heard to say, "Mum, I used to work with fabric, but now I work with paper and I do writing!"

May 2001

It has been quite the adventure so far, the past ten years. I hope we have many more together.

for those of you who would like to see

roses

On 24 April 2011 Peter and I and our girls planted a little japanese maple tree in memory of our most recent tiny baby who was never born. We planted it in a large container; for now we are tenants and I hope to plant this tree in our own garden someday.

More photos can be found in the photo set in memory of on flickr.

small empty box

We buried a small empty box beneath the tree. It is made from leftover paper I made for Eowyn's baby book over 6 years ago.

(the 24th of April is also the year anniversary of our first miscarriage)

Arrived today

Ordered months ago. Happy! Excited!
And...Maybe this will be the last post from my phone for a while. It's so easy but missing something (like a lot more control over post format for starters). Grief seems to alter things but I think I can be friends with my camera again.  I've been using my husband's as well as my phone, but my well loved little nikon has sat  neglected since my miscarriage. It's not the camera's fault for pete's sake.

Still needs buttons

For Leilani. Sewing for the kids = how I am coping with grief.
Shirt from Enid Gilchrist's playclothes. Skirt (post below) was the bottom of a thrifted men's business shirt, linen.

Exercising the brain

Because the alternative is sinking. Anyway I love these old patterns. My mother-in-law says they were old even when Peter was a baby.

One pinnie finished

And one more for big sister on the way. Also took photos with the big camera & will process those one day... for now from the phone.

Dance class stitching

School holidays are over. Back to work (or something like that).  Around all these other mums I can't afford myself the luxury of thinking so much about what I'm doing. That's a good thing.

thank you

for looking, reading and simply being you
